Spring, Summer and Fall; the Texas Hill Country abounds in colorful flowers.

Lady Bird Johnson, wife of President Lyndon Johnson, is  most singularity responsible for the propagation of wild flowers in the US and especially in the Hill Country.  The flowers seen in these photos are native but without her efforts would probably be extinct by now due to overgrazing and week killers used on agricultural land.

This Red Oak is in my backyard.  This photo from Nov. 2011 shows the color it can produce
This year, a lot of acorns but NO color.  Just brown leaves that fell off. Is there a correlation between
acorns and color?  Maybe I will see next year.  These are the acorns the deer and turkeys were
making a meal of.

The Lace Cactus is endangered.  I have three in a cactus patch.  The blooms only last a very few days.
